The ants go marching

Does anybody else have a breed of invincible ants invading their house?! Little tiny red ones that do not seem to care for any poison that I have tried. I really hate to spray bug killer in the house, but am beginning to think I may have to give that a try. Anybody have any other ideas for me?
Although, maybe I should just start collecting them and make an ant farm for my 6yo. She has been enjoying watching them; she even got out the magnifying glass. A homeschool mom always sees an opportunity for a science lesson!

I am speaking from experience. We were stationed in Louisiana in the early 90's, and boy are there alot of ants there!

The only thing that ever combated the ants successfully was a tip we got from an older gentleman.
He told us that ants follow there scent trails so you have to eliminate the scent trails. To do so you use liquid dish soap and cross the path. I know that that sounds crazy but it worked. I then put a thin line of dishsoap in the door ways(in the track) and I also put dish soap around the windows in the frame.
It works. The first couple times you will have to clean up the dish soap because so many ants will try to cross and then die in the soap. After the first few times it will stay ant free.
I know that this may seem weird, but I can not stand bugs and I was spending tons of money and nothing worked, then low cost dish soap was the magic!
Good Luck!

UG - I'm feeling so bad for your daughter. Tell her to keep her head high even thought it's so difficult in these high school years. It will (hopefully) get better as she grows older. She is absolutely beautiful and sounds like a wonderful person so bratty little girls will get what’s coming to them some day!

Boys are more aggressive, but honestly, I think I prefer that to what girls do to each other. It's so rotten!

My mother-in-law has that trouble every year. I think she uses honey on a piece of cardboard to trap them on but I guess that wouldn't get rid of them, just gives them a place to end up!

Jennifer, thanks for the tip. I will try that!

FFW, If the dishsoap doesn't get them I am willing to try the honey. At least they wouldn't be crawling all over the house.

Amanda, you are right. The boys may leave physical marks, but I think girls can leave psychological marks that are with us forever. Having no boys I may be wrong. You are teaching Alex the right thing.
